 | Charles Westwood, LLB, NP, Founding Partner
- With an LLB law degree from Glasgow University, Charles Westwood has extensive experience providing legal advice and directing negotiations for players in the UK oil and gas industry
- Charles was a Senior Legal Advisor at BNOC (later Britoil Plc) where he was involved with oil field joint ventures
- He was also legal advisor for the Beatrice oil field development and advised on the privatisation of British National Oil Corporation to Britoil
- Charles become the company’s International Lands and Concessions Manager, and for two years held responsibility for exploration concessions and negotiations in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Far East and, later, leading negotiations for the integration of British Petroleum and Britoil North Sea licence portfolios
- In 1993 he formed Hannon Westwood with Jim Hannon, with his expertise focusing on client acreage acquisition and directing client asset negotiations

 | Jim Hannon, B.Sc, M.Sc, MBA, ARCS, MCMI, Founding Partner
- With a Physics Degree from Imperial College and background in geophysics, Jim Hannon has extensive experience in global projects and asset management including industry-wide joint ventures both in Europe and around the world
- After spending five years with Petty-Ray Geophysical in the UK, South Africa, Tunisia and Angola, Jim joined Bos Kalis where he became Area Manager in Lagos, Dubai, Bahrain, Quatar, and Kuwait. Jim then worked for Britoil Plc. in a variety of North Sea UK and Norway exploration posts and then moved on to become Exploration Manager where he managed European assets and joint ventures throughout the UK and Europe
- Jim then joined British Petroleum, first as Joint Venture Manager, and later moving to Head of Licence Management during which time he gained an MBA
- Forming Hannon Westwood with Charles Westwood in 1993, Jim’s expertise is in the area of portfolio rationalisation, strategic analysis and the use of market intelligence

 | Chris Bulley, M.Sc., B.Sc, DIC, Executive Director
- A highly-experienced geologist and proven oil finder, Chris Bulley has a wide range of experience in oil and gas exploration from a technical, commercial, acquisition and disposal perspective
- Chris provides expertise in the area of understanding the uncertainties in the appraisal of asset opportunities
- Chris started his career in mud logging with NL Baroid in the Middle East. After taking an M.Sc. at Imperial College he joined Phillips Petroleum as a Geologist. Chris then moved to Ranger Oil (U.K.) Ltd, first as a Geologist, and held the consecutive positions of Exploration Manager UK, Manager Geology and Geophysics UK, and Manager Business Development
- With Ranger Oil Chris worked on all UKCS provinces and was involved extensively with operated and non-operated licences, licence round applications, commercial agreements and acreage rationalisation
- Chris left CNR to co-found Hi-Grade Assets to focus on exploration and appraisal opportunities in the UK

 | Ian Norbury, Director of Consultancy
- With experience spanning exploration and development projects in the UK, Norway, Denmark and internationally, Ian Norbury has a successful track record as an oil finder, and in exploration, technical and business management
- Ian started his career with Amoco and worked in the UK and Norway as an exploration geologist
- He then joined Conoco to focus first on Norway as Senior Geologist, and was then based in Rome focusing on offshore and onshore exploration in Italy
- Ian then joined Amerada Hess as Area Exploration Manager in London, managing exploration teams in the southern and central North Sea. Following that, he managed the company’s Norway exploration department, based in Oslo, and then moved to the UK as Exploration Manager
- Ian was promoted to Executive Manager of Technical Services responsible for service delivery and was part of the UK and Northwest Europe Leadership Team responsible for operational and business performance
- Following that, Ian moved to Executive Manager Exploration as part of a small team responsible for worldwide exploration performance including NW Europe, Caspian, North Africa, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and South-east Asia.
Ian started HW Crucible in 2003, which in 2005 was merged into Hannon Westwood. Ian provides Hannon Westwood clients with his expertise in the area of strategy development and implementation, business development, deals flow and analysis

 | Andrew Vinall, Technical Director
- A senior geo-scientist with expertise in geological and geophysical interpretation, Andrew Vinall has extensive career experience spanning production, development, exploration and commercial aspects of the UKCS
- Andrew held a variety of positions with Premier Oil Plc., starting first as Geologist and later as Production and Development Supervisor where he managed the company’s non-operated production that produced over 90 per cent of the company’s revenue. Andrew then assumed responsibility for rationalising the company’s UKCS portfolio and identifying new business opportunities
- Andrew then moved to Ranger Oil as Senior Geologist to evaluate current UK assets and identify new opportunities. Following the takeover of Ranger Oil by CNR International, Andrew managed the company’s UK 20th licensing round evaluation prior to joining the Cote d’Ivoire team, where as Senior Development Geologist he helped achieve project sanction for the Baobab Field development
- In 2003 Andrew co-founded Hi-Grade LLP to promote the potential of the UKCS and attract inward investment through the provision of technical intelligence and bespoke consultancy to the upstream oil and gas industry
- In October 2005 Hi-Grade was merged into Hannon Westwood where Andrew has additionally been instrumental in migrating the database to a GIS platform
